mp3 tags messed up (tagscanner issue?)

    hey hey =)

i finally managed to get myself enough space to rip my cd collection.
i've already come a long way, got all files on hd now and am currently in the process of tagging them correctly.

i'm using tagscanner to mass edit my tags.

however, i've run into a strange issue, which i just can't pin down.

i've had a large mp3 collection beforehand and now, that i've added the rest of my cd's, the "comment" tag in some of my older albums is missing. however, it shows up in the properties of the mp3 in foobar, but then again not in wmp and not in explorer (detail view).
i can update the tags, but they just won't show up - except: in foobar it would double the comments, like "ripped by pakZ =); ripped by pakZ =);" etc...

any hints on what's causing this?

    Hi there
I'd suggest you use THIS program for tagging -- works fine for me.

I Tag FLAC files but it also works for MP3 etc etc and if you are tagging ripped CD tracks you can get data from FREEDB etc.

    Mp3tag - the universal Tag Editor (ID3v2, MP4, OGG, FLAC, ...)

Incidentally I use WINAMP to rip CD tracks -- I prefer to have the music stored as FLAC since there is no degradation in quality by compressing to mp3. HDD space is cheap enough these days.

Ripping via WINAMP will automatically tag your files with data from GRACENOTE CDDB. You can edit later if needed with the program I've given you the link for in this post.

I can convert to mp3 when I want to copy files to a music player but I like to have the highest quality music stored on the Computer.

    Cheers
