I think he means the version of Movie Maker... You can find it by launching Windows Live Movie Maker (WLMM). Click on the far left menu with the down arrow (to the left of the Home menu). Click on "About Movie Maker".

I've got the same problem... Everything was fine when I was running WLMM 2010. As soon as I updated to 2011 I started having this problem. I'm running WLMM 2011 Build 15.4.3502.0922

It gets to 28% exporting the movie then stops responding and Windows must close the application.

Update... Here's the actual error from my event log:

Faulting application name: MovieMaker.exe, version: 15.4.3502.922, time stamp: 0x4c9b0191
Faulting module name: nvd3dum.dll, version: 7.15.10.9806, time stamp: 0x45c03d98
    Exception code: 0xc0000005
    Fault offset: 0x0011dbd0
    Faulting process id: 0xf28
    Faulting application start time: 0x01cb93674c630f20
    Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Photo Gallery\MovieMaker.exe
    Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\nvd3dum.dll

WLMM most frequently crashes because people tend to poke it with (often endless and frantic) clicking, thinking that something has gone wrong and that it freezes when in fact it either doesn't or it cannot utilize enough resources to display any progress with the movie exporting. Anyone who has ever used WM9Encoder can tell you the same. Leave the window be and don't touch it; while the movie is exported, leave the computer as idle as it can get without actually idling to sleep and turning off the hard disk.

If the actual error(s) appear at the very beginning of exporting the movie, then it is (most likely) a codec issue.

How long should I wait for it to save a movie? 1 hour maybe to create a 30 second movie, ha. I have clicked "Save Movie" and left the room for 20 minutes. When I come back its Frozen and not responding. All worked great with prev version, 2010.

Rendering the movie depends on your rig, the input quality, the complexion of video effects, clips, audio stream(s) applied, and of course the quality of the output streams, too... According to your rig, it shouldn't take a long time, however, I thought "Faulting module name: nvd3dum.dll" looked familiar so I looked it up, and it points towards nVidia drivers. I can see you have an ATI, but if you ever installed PhysX drivers (perhaps during a video game instal) you should either remove it or update it. Or perhaps you used to have an nVidia and forgot to remove the drivers?

Thanks for the thought but no I do not have PhsyX drivers installed and have never had any Nvidia hardware or drivers installed.

    SOLVED

I just downloaded the latest Microsoft updates for Win7 x64 and new ATI graphics drivers Version 10.12. Now Movie Maker 2011 works great.
