Windows live photo gallery can't rotate videos?

I know I used to do this before, my videos are all mostly .mov files and the rotate options are grayed out?

Do you have quicktime installed? Sometimes it needs to be. From what I am reading as well you may have to convert them to a more windows friendly format as .MOV are an apple extention.

    Also have a look here:

You are not alone, looks like you need to change the file type :)

I would say .AVI or .WMV would be best. I will see what I can as far as a converter goes. You might be able to open one at time with Windows Movie Maker, then just turn around and save as .AVI or .WMV. You may have to right click the .mov file and hit copy, then paste it into the timeline instead of just dragging it. Also just do one .MOV at a time or your system may freeze up. Kinda a weird deal but it may work. In the mean time I will search for a converter just in case :)

    Geeve

Edit: You can try just dragging the files in and see what happens! If save as won't work try exporting as .AVI or .WMV

Edit 2: I will test the movie maker method and let you know what I find here in a sec. If it works I will post step by step

Welcome! If that doesn't work,it didn't for me, here is a little converter that works quite well. I just tested it here at work (IT hates when I do that LOL)

    Bink Downloads

Go there and grab "the RAD video tools" it is free and works quite well. Not sure if it does batch convert but it did one for me very quickly :) Might give it a shot, it converts to AVI and just tested and it can be rotated in Live photo gallery :)

    Geeve

    Edit:

    1)Download software
    2) install as admin
    3) open program and find the file to convert
    4) Press convert a file (bottom left buttom)
    5) It will open up another window, ignore the crap and browse where you want it to save and name the file
    6) hit convert on the right and you are done

    Edit #2:

Here is the guide for the software, it might do batch convert:
