Cannot Seem To Make Windows Media Player The Default Player For WAV

I have iRiver software on my computer for my mp3 player - I want it to recognise and play mp3's , and I want Windows Media Player to recognise and play WAV files. I have set default programs as such , but the iRiver software still highjacks any audio file - is there some other way to stop this happening - didn't have any problem when using vista , so I assume its something to do with windows 7

    Try this:

Select a wav. Right click and select "Open with..." From that window select "Choose default program" at the bottom. In the next window if WMP is shown select it, if it doesn't show click browse and browse to WMP exe file and select. Make sure the check box that reads "Always use the selected program for this type of file" is checked. Click OK. CLOSE Windows explorer and reopen. See if that works!
