Can't read from the source file or disk.

    im finished with checkdisk of drive D:, now im still getting cant read from source file or disk error!!!!!

    is it time for me to change hard disk?

    You didn't specify your HDD manufacturer. Check wit hyour manufacturer if they have any disk diagnostic utility. Run that and see what it tells..

    ok, i just bought a new HDD 500gb, btw~ my old hdd was WD 250gb, and now i bought again WD hehe.

    btw~ tnx every1 who tried to help.

    also, back then only files were getting corrupted, 2 days ago, folders were being attacked, so i had to buy new one ASAP. :)

    Try this:
    1. Zip the file and copy to the desired location
    2. Unzip.

    Worked for me

    I've got the same problem. I am copying from drive M to Drive Z. (Both are external) This is happening on multiple files. JPG's, excel files, word files, you name it. In the middle of copying a half gig directory I get the error message "cannot read from file or disk". I can open the files just fine. I can copy them to my C drive with no problem. But if I then try to copy them to the Z drive I get the same message, "Cannot read from source file or disk". I am stumped.

    For some reason that worked. Genius!

    With so many annoying error messages relating to basic procedures, it's no wonder so many people stick with Windows XP....
