    My Pictures Icons


    All my picture files (jpegs) are displayed with a generic icon showing a lake with mountains in the background. How can this to show the actual picture?

    Refer to Folder Options - Open and ensure that the option Always show icons, never thumbnails is unchecked as shown.

    Hello Andrew, and welcome to Seven Forums.

    In addition to the above for more options: Thumbnail Previews - Enable or Disable



    If you are only having this issue with .jpg or .jpeg image files and not with any other image files (ex: .bmp), then you could download and merge their file extension from the list in the tutorial below to restore their default associations to fix this.

Generic Icons on pictures

When I open a folder with pictures in it (set to view as large icons) all I get is generic icons for each picture. Used to be able to see the actual pix on each one. How do I get back the picture instead of a generic? Thanks for any help.

When using chrome as a browser, it is copying all icons to my pictures. All I want in pictures is pictures. It puts PDF's icons, quicken icons etc each time I use one of those files. Not sure if IE does this. I use chrome 99% of the time. Is there anyway way to stop this?
