Why is my screen purple/pink?

Just upgraded from Vista ultimate x64. Soon as it restarted the desktop has a purple/pink tint but only running at 1920x1080. If i lower the res its fine. Monitor: BenQ G2412HD Video card: ATI 4870HD dual edition.

A pink screen

Hi folks, can anyone help me?... A few days ago my monitor screen started flashing a pink/purple color. This happened a few times and now the screen has a pink/purple tint to it. Where's this going to end? Do I need to invest in a new monitor?
this is the 5th time ive gotten a pink screen with artifacts, randomly happens over the course of 4 months. this time I got a blue screen following it. last time the display driver corrected itself. I've ran furmark untill the temp maxed out with no artifacts or anything. 86 C. times that the...

Can someone enlighten me so as to whether this pink screen on the PC's monitor software or hardware related? It just happened all of a sudden after watching some movies using Media Player Classic + K-Lite Codec pack.
