I tried to use Picasa 3 but what a complacated mess. They give you 1 gig of space on the Internet and you can upload so your friends can see without sending huge files through the Internet. Do I just need to learn this or is there something more simple?
Images view ok at 72 pixels per inch. Resize for web/monitor viewing.
What affects how quickly you fill up your 1GB of allocated space is the size of the file. Larger uploads clearly take longer. Your friends might not like downloading your larger files for the same reason. Even little point and shoot digital cameras can give you BIG files.
Most photo editors will have a resize. So as I said find where the function is in the editor and resize to 72 ppi (pixels per inch) and tick the maintain aspect ratio box (or some similar wording) so your pictures keep proportion. Also you may be asked for a "Jpeg quality". Highest gives you larger files. So experiment - a lower setting should be fine.
Occasionally, when you want friends to be able to make a good print 200ppi is good, 300ppi is excellent).
(For printing you may see dots per inch (dpi), just think of it as the same as ppi)
eh if someone tells me send me the photos from today's ride I just send em the full sized several images--bad I know.
if a bunch I will upload them to my flickr pro and send them the link.
Or a link to Facebook, or if a video to vimeo.

Yes, you just need to learn it. Yes, there is something more simpler.
For large(r) videos, recode into a more compact format or resolution. Same for the photos.
For photos, IrfanView is useful for this purpose. For video, Movie Maker is appropriate.
After 3 days of no response from the OP I think he/she might have given up!
