Is there any LEGAL ways, via LEGAL software, to import/rip my own DVD's for home and personal use?

Any help appreciated!
It's not the software that is illegal (well they try to say it is) so there aren't any 'legal' types. It is WHAT you are ripping that makes it illegal. Changing the format and file types of copyrighted media is what is illegal in the UK. Ripping a cd to mp3 is actually illegal. Same with a DVD to avi etc. That is why the software is illegal.
They make it hard though just to stop illegal copies.
However, it is not illegal to change the format of something YOU own the copyright of. For instance a home video or a recording of a song you wrote yourself.
I use DVD Decrypter. As far as I know it is illegal in the US, but not illegal in the UK as the software itself isn't illegal (can be used for legal things), but the act of breaking the copyright law is illegal.
Is a photocopier illegal???
