New windows install from OEM and now i cant play any videos?
So i recently just did a brand new install for windows 7, now i am getting a weird error that i cant seem to find a fix for on google. I am fully updated with windows 7 updates, latest video drivers. Mind you, these are videos that were working fine before the reformat. This is the full error im getting.
This version of the file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or an x64 (64-bit) version of the program.
Running windows 7, 64 bit. Trying to play .avi and .mkv video files with the community codec pack installed with VLC media player / WMP.
Small update: I have somehow managed to get WMP to play .avis when i uninstalled VLC, but even with the CCCP codec pack installed i still cant play MKV files.
Update2: Ok, so ive found out if i try to play an mkv file in WMP the error " Windows media player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file. "
Then if i hit play on WMP, it plays the file fine...... but that error pops on every file i try to play.
