yeah unfortunately that did not work either. also the rip location is blank and when i click the button to change it nothing happens there either. it all seems related just don't know how to fix it

Having multiple codecs is usually a good thing. Escpecially if you use WMP to play movie files. You can find codec packs simply by searching for them... i.e. "Windows Media Player codec pack." As for the ripping thing, I can't help you there. I never rip CD's.
