i was browsing around similar threads to this one & came across one called Deleted "My Pictures" folder, posted by Hatter The Mad in october 2009. i tried one of the answers posted to that forum & it worked for me! i*m going to paste it here for anyone who*s having a problem. hope it works!

Hello Hatter the Mad, and welcome to Seven Forums.

If it's still in the Recycle Bin, then you can just restore it from the Recyle Bin. If not, then you can type shell:My Pictures in the Start Menu search box to restore it. You may need to restart the computer afterwards to full apply.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn
once i found my folder after i typed shell:My Pictures in the start menu, the folder opened like always! there*s an option on top (by "organize", "share with", etc.) & it says Add this to a current file. i clicked on that & it gave me the option of what folder to save it in (documents, pictures, music, videos, etc.). i chose Pictures & now it*s back just like it was before this whole mess. lol*
    problem solved.
thanks so much to all of you who helped me out & gave me wonderful info!
    xoxo Lia

I realize this was posted quite a while ago, but I ran across it while trying to fix the same problem on my computer. I hope you found a solution long ago, but in case you haven't, I'll share what worked for me. I found this on another site. You click the link on the page that opens when you click the link here, and when prompted, hit run. You see nothing else happen after that, but your files should start reappearing. In just minutes, I had my missing pictures, etc back. I am giving you the link to the article I found as opposed to just the link for the fix so you can see the article and the comments included.
