    Klite

Klite Mega Codec pack is still the best. I've never had anything it wouldn't play.
    Download K-Lite Mega Codec Pack

    NONE! would be the best.
packs install a lot of bull**it on your computer.

    do you play HD movies?

    I'd recommend installing:
    FFDSHOW
    AC3FILTER
COREAVC (for HD decoding and if you're computer is rather slow)
    HAALI MEDIA SPLITTER

and on top of this cake i would use Media Player Classic Home Cinema.

    good luck :)

Too true. Them packs do contain a lot of unnecessary crap. I wouldnt bother with coreavc either. Ffdshow, ac3filter and haali are the best combo for x264 in my experience, even on slow pcs.

You need to only install what you need as far as codecs go. If you are inexperienced and don't know what you need, just install VLC player and don't mess around with codecs. You can screw up Windows video playback very easily with codec packs, and then you'll be reinstalling Windows.
