    Broken AVIs

I don't have too many videos of this format, but it seems that every time that I play one with VLC, that it pops a warning that the file is broken, and offers to repair it. The repair always works, and the file will then play normally, but since I had played these files previously without any problem, they are somehow either being corrupted, or something has changed in VLC. I haven't had this problem with any other video format, so it seems unlikely that it is any kind of hardware problem. Is there something odd about AVIs, or is it something else?

I don't have this problem myself but there is an option in preferences-input and codecs to fix AVIs. Strange that there is no other type it can fix. maybe AVIs are prone to corruption.

Thanks for pointing that out. I set it to always fix the files, so I won't have to do so each time. I think that you may be right, and AVIs are more corruptible than other formats...maybe I will convert them.

Either that or they are easy to fix. You can convert them using VLC but I have found that it is pretty unreliable. I have recently been using FreeMake Video converter instead. It seem to work very well. Freemake | Best Freeware Alternatives To Paid Video Software
