** Your screenshot does not work..... for me.
Windows DVD Maker only supports the following video file formats :
Video files: '.asf', '.avi', '.dvr-ms', '.m1v', '.mp2', '.mp2v', '.mpe', '.mpeg', '.mpg', '.mpv2', '.wm', and '.wmv'.
You'll need a video converter and change your MPEG - 2TS to one of the formats above.
Wmv is the best and most reliable formats for Windows. Whether wmv will reduce the HD quality ? I don't know, I am not big in this subject.
I can't recommend a converter for you because...
1. I never need one to convert MPEG-2TS. I just use Prism converter for mundane conversion and I don't think Prism can do it.
2. What I have found in the net are not free. I could be accused for spamming if I recommended one that cost money.
Google for a converter yourself and decide which to choose.
Try this freebie, I prefer the portable version. DVDStyler Portable | PortableApps.com - Portable software for USB, portable and cloud drives
I would Import into Windows Live Movie maker and then publish the movie
If I can remember Windows Live Movie Maker supports MPEG-2 TS
I am liable to be totally wrong. Windows live Movie Maker and Windows DVD Maker both support MPEG. No mention of MPEG-2TS.
excerpt :
Windows Live Movie Maker: With this totally new Windows Live Movie Maker, you can add video files, photo files and audio files. There are much more video formats will be supported with Window Live Movie Maker. The supported types are .WMV, .ASF, .WM, .M2TS, .M2T, .WTV, .MP4, .MOV, .M4V, .MPEG, .MOG, .MPE, .M1V, .MP2, .MPV2, .MOD, .VOB, .AVI.

Ohh My I seem to have it mistaken with AVCHD
.M2TS that is the File Extension and does support it according to your source.
Thank you.
If that is the same thing, then this link may be of use to the OP :

Looks like it is a free program.
Converting will in fact reduce the quality of Video and Audio. If you wish to avoid this, one other option is simply change the container type.
It would be easier to make a suggestion if we knew the exact Video and Audio codec used inside that container.
However, one thing you can try is YAMB.
Youll also need MP4box.
All that you'll need to do to setup YAMB, is extract it, and MP4box to a folder.
Open YAMB, and in Settings, select the location of the MP4 box.exe so it knows where to look.
Then you can Re-Mux with it.
Just choose to create a MP4, and for Video file and Aduio, add that video.
This will create a MP4 that Win7 supports by default, and will NOT recode the video. So there will be no quality loss, and takes just a minute or 2.
This will work if the file is 4GB or less.
If it is over 4GB in size, MKV container would be a better choice.
Dang your pgoram look good. You can only convert 5mins for free :l
Mine goes for 1hr and 52mins
I've tryed some free conveter from the forums recommonded in the free program list but the reduce quailty big time.
