    thanks for your support ^_^

umm ok ... first i know the video suppose to play fine (it working fine with any new editer progreams but not with old ones)

second MPC was working just fine with previews because it seem that it not even touch the Windows Explorer previws when it come to avi... it was the divx who done it... CCCP using Haali last version which drop the support of showing MKV previews because it was too buggy, as for other files i think it let the windows explorer to handle most of them, at least i 80% sure it let the AVI to be handle by windows explorer because the cccp codec pack designed with the idea of letting files like MKV to work fine (people can laugh on me when hearing that i use AVI files at all when it come to CCCP)

but i assume you just try to show me that everything is working correctly

my best guess is that the codecs (or filters...) just too new for old progrems... and they just end up not being recognize
i wish i could look what filters were in cccp 2009 without to reinstall it...
(what sucks most is that i just end up ruin my system for nothing if the problem was in the old program itself =.=)

i send you a the program via mail again, the program name is AVI to GIF Converter but i not sure it will come in english though... the program suppose to be in english .... but there is chance that it take the lang from the system

anyway if the codecs aren't the problem that mean i need to run back to plan A ...seraching for a new program that can Converter videos to GIFs.... and i can't find one till now .... and i try something like 5 progrems and all end up not recognize the file/ recognize it but not suit to change it to GIF with some codecs or just crash ... -.-

No, turns out your program apparently was not in English.

So instead I went to the software vendor web site, and they had the program available for free trial (or $29.95 to purchase). I downloaded the trial version and installed it, and it was in English.

Note that the current version is 4.0. The older version you sent me was 3.2. So my experiments are with the current 4.0.

Also, I specifically UN-CHECKED the optional install of the K-Lite codec pack, as I have NO INTENTION OF INSTALLING AN EXTERNAL CODEC PACK ON MY SYSTEM.

So the results of my test was STILL WITHOUT ANY EXTRA CODECS INSTALLED. Once again, just pure base Win7 foundation for multimedia, plus (a) FFDSHOW with most codecs un-checked if Win7 already has support, (b) Haali Matroska Splitter, and (c) XVIDVFW which is specifically for VirtualDub production of AVI's.

Nevertheless, IT WORKED PERFECTLY ON MY SYSTEM!! It opened the 8-second AVI you sent me perfectly, allowed me to mark a small start/end clip, allowed me to create an output GIF, and then launched Firefox to view the resulting GIF.

    It all worked perfectly!

    (1) Here's the setup, with your AVI file open and a start/end mark set, just before I pushed the "Make GIF" button:

    (2) I then pushed the "Make GIF" button, specified the output by leaving the pre-populated file name in the "Save as..." dialog, and it started producing the output GIF. Here is a capture during the few seconds it took to complete making the output GIF:

    (3) Then the process completed:

    (4) I pushed the OK button, to open my browser (Firefox) and to "play" that GIF:

So, mission accomplished. Project complete. Worked perfectly, using the current 4.0 version of the program... WITHOUT INSTALLING THE K-LITE CODEC PACK... on your AVI.

Standard Win7 support for DIVX, standard Win7 Windows Media Player, standard Windows Explorer "preview" of that AVI through standard WMP (and not WMC), current 4.0 version of your AVI-to-GIF conversion program... it all works perfectly.

And there is NO CCCP, no Shark/K-lite codec packs. Works perfectly.

Why wouldn't this standard Win7 set of tools and techniques not be acceptable?

umm because i can't watch animes with it : P

there is a small chance that it because you use version 4.0 maybe? (found change log http://www.google.co.il/url?sa=t&sou...i3todSG5bUYk6A ... it seem it really is support new codecs on version 4)

i talk with the developer of the program via email and he tell me that one of the program main problems is that it have hard time with different codecs that not from k-lite, he said that he working on new one that hopefully will come out next month... but it still not fix my problem atm -.- any ideas? any programs that you use that can make videos to gifs?

I don't understand. What does "can't watch animes with it" mean???

Isn't that an anime AVI you sent me? I was able to (a) play it successfully with WMP... i.e. I "watched" it, (b) preview it successfully in Windows Explorer seeing it as a WMP "frame", and (c) convert a portion of it to GIF using the program you pointed me to.

Didn't my WMP play that anime/AVI without a problem?

So what didn't work??? What exactly is your problem, other than that you're trying to use WMC instead of WMP (and I still don't fully understand why you must use WMC)?

any programs that you use that can make videos to gifs?
I don't do anything like this.

But I did use the program you pointed me to (i.e. version 4.0), and it seemed to do exactly that... convert a clip of a video to GIF. So why isn't this what you're looking for??

it seem there is some misunderstanding here...

i not watching animes on avi files (not most of the times anyway...)... i convert it to avi so i can convert it to GIFs..... i watching animes most of the times on mkv files and alot of other files (even in worst cases i watch in rmvb...) the main problem is that most of the good GIF convert programs just allow to use AVI formats....

also can you plz try to open the file i send you via the program i send you and see if it open? (it may be in different langs but the same buttons) if you try to open it and get error ... well that what happening to me

(btw what you meant by "i.e 4.0" ?)

Yes, not only is the whole GUI from the 3.2 version screwed up and not in English, but it also appears to be unable to open that AVI file you gave me.

In contrast, the 4.0 version of the program works perfectly... good GUI, English, and has no problem opening that AVI you gave me.

Obviously you should upgrade to the 4.0 version is you want to make GIF from AVI without a problem. But... see my comments below.

(btw what you meant by "i.e 4.0" ?)
I meant the most current version 4.0 of the AVI-to-GIF Converter program, as opposed to the old version 3.2 which is what you'd sent me originally.

Now, when I got the error message from version 3.2, I clicked on the OK button which then took me to a web page for another video product named "Video Snapshot Wizard".

This product seems to be more powerful than your old version 3.2, and apparently much more powerful than the current version 4.0 of AVI to GIF converter.

As you pointed out, your real goal is to create GIF output from your MKV originals, and you're only converting from MKV to AVI because that's what AVI to GIF converter reads.

However, looking at the web page for this other product named "Video Snapshot Wizard", it sure looks like exactly the type of similar but more robust tool you've wanted all along!!!
Click "Open" button to open your video file, support the most popular video format such as AVI, FLV, ASF, MOV, RM, RMVB, WMV, MKV, VOB, MPG, MPEG etc...
You asked me if I could recommend I would recommend a program that could create GIF from MKV (or other formats than AVI) and I didn't know of any. But following the OK button lead from your old version 3.2 error, sure enough it looks like this "Video Snapshot Wizard" is what you're looking for!

I downloaded the trial version and ran it against your AVI file. Sure enough, it opened (just like version 4.0 of your AVI to GIF Converter program did). But I don't have your original MKV version to try it out on.

However YOU have the MKV original. So why don't you download that Video Snapshot Wizard program and try it out for yourself. I believe it is what you've been looking for.
