If you just have a normal DVD player in your computer then probably not. More than likely your DVD player software is already changing the screen resolution to DVD resolution, but even if not (or you are playing in a full screen WMP or something) all it's doing is stretching the image to fil the screen and it won't look any better at 1920x1080 than 1440x900 or even 1280x720...
Now.. if you had a really nice upscaling bluray player with 120 FPS motion prediction circuitry etc etc, then it may look better. But still between 1920 and 1440 I don't think there would be much noticable difference, they are both already WAY higher than DVD resolution... :/
so i should get a 1440x900 with higher contrast and refresh rate
also what to llok in a montior for high quality like sharpness and things that make video and picture viewing look better
there is two montiors here which is better
LG E2041T-BN | 20" Full HD LED LCD Monitor - LG Electronics US
vs 20" T Model LCD Monitor - T200HD - LCD - Monitors | SAMSUNG
Well to put this two into perspective I lusted for dual Samsung's in 23"+ but it took the LG's price and features to make me pull the trigger. In the end like all purchases if you can spend more you often get more in subtle ways like heft and overall quality etc. But for me the benefit of the dual work space made the LG's at 1/3rd less the better deal and I can tell you the picture quality has been fantastic......but not having the Samsung's to directly compare in my system with the LG's side by side it's tough. I'll put it this way had price not been an overriding issue then Sam's but with the savings I literally could have purchased (2) 24"-26" LG's for the price of (2) 22"-23" Samsung's.
but LG has far more contrast then the samung i have a montior here is the specs 300(cd/m²)Type:
Max Resolution: 1440x900
Contrast Ratio: 800:1
my monitor is 19 inch to me previous post i am looking for better sharpness better contrast and better quality to play dvd's
To me video quality is all about the blacks......the blacker they are the more natural and fluid the other colors pop. Samsung LCD/LED TV's have this quality and I'm only assuming the monitors do as well. Like I said I'm very happy with my LG's with one non related issue and that is they didn't come with mounting points in back. Oh and they like most all monitors come preset with crazy bright display settings so learning the settings and making final adjustments from the get go is critical !
cna you check the two montiors out on the link also what is the best to look out for in montiors for quality
