    I forgot about that way ...and I've used that method a couple of times too

    I rarely update my GF's iPod and when she asked me to add some stuff the other day I realised I haven't had iTunes installed for a couple of months so I just did the old download, install and mop up routine.

    I generally uncheck the bon useless item from the start and automatically disable any items in the startup list if and when any thing like ITunes is even installed. For 7 you can be sure I left that stuff out entirely while previously running it on XP and Vista.
