Windows Media Player does not play DVDs when my Soundcard is connected
Hi guys,
I have an external USB soundcard (Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6), and it has come to my attention that I am completely unable to play DVDs on my computer when my soundcard is connected.
WMP does not give me any error message; it just abruptly stops playing the DVD and the DVD title becomes "Unknown DVD".
However, when I disconnect my sound card, DVDs play as per normal.
I shot a tech support mail to my sound card manufacturer, and this was his reply:
"The behavior you describe is normal. The reason is that Komplete Audio 6 features a digital output. The copy protection scheme of Windows blocks the playback of a DVD if a digital audio output is discovered to make it impossible to create 1:1 copy of the audio tracks. So this is not an issue of Komplete Audio 6."
If this is true, is there anything I can do about this? I frequently watch DVDs on my computer and now the only way I can do it is WITHOUT sound!
Thanks for any advice or help!
