There is one player I know of that will play pretty much anything without codecs, it also supports a ton of streaming and network features.

Yeah, I use it for listening to Shoutcast streams. I bookmark the URL's for easy access to a bunch of stations. It's like listening to the radio, but mostly commercial free.

But, I agree. I don't use it for watching video. There are better alternatives.

Some people love it, some hate it. If you've ever pulled your hair out trying to get it to play a certain file, you'll know why many people hate it. When people have to resort to another player to play files, that's when they turn on WMP.
But I'm glad you enjoy it.:)
