    Hi asser

WMP has never been on my list of media players. I prefer using Winamp for audio only and Media Player Classic Home Cinema for video files, it is included if you download K Lite Codec Pack Full.

Not a codec pack but I believe if you install MatroskaSplitter and AC3Filter WMP12 will then be able to display PGS subtitles(the kind in BluRay videos) and will have AC3 audio support.

I'm pretty sure with AC3Filter you just install and it fixes no AC3 support. No settings. For the BluRay subs you have to go into WMP settings Subtitles and check the BluRay subs to turn them on.

Also with MatroskaSplitter you get better .mkv support.

edit: could be WMP12 already has some PGS support but I believe MatroskaSplitter gives it to you for .mkv with PGS subs. You'll have to try it. But I've found it good to have generally.

the only media player you'll ever need is VLC. plays everything. and has countless more options windows media player is missing.

VideoLAN - Official page for VLC media player, the Open Source video framework!

    Dear Asser
Fist and foremost i would like to say that although k-light offers ALOT of codes and options i believe that many people on this forum would advise you on using Shark007 codecs as they compile all the settings for every aspect of the pack including the ability to set the splitters for individual files e.t.c in one place known as the settings application further more, the developer of the Pack (SHARK007) is an active member in the seven forums as well as his own and could provide you with first hand advice and troubleshooting on any issue you might encounter

As for the differance between the two i guess you can be forgiven for saying there aren't any! since they both play all the files i ever threw at them

Second before you decide which format you like flac or otherwise i would take into account all your devices, for example if you have a android/windows phone 7 (like me) then your best lossless option is WMA 9.2 lossless which offers full tag handling capabilities by both windows PC/mobile and android if you only use your pc then i suppose flac is your best option....... i guess, if you can live without native property handling (unlike me :P)

    I hope this helped :)
