Looking For Image Viewer To View Multiple Images At Once

    Hi folks,

I'm looking for a simple image viewer program that will let me view images on my computer at once. I would like the program to be able to let me open up multiple images in seperate windows at once and to have unobtrusive menu bars.

Does such a program exist? I have been out of the loop with Windows for a while and the last time I used Windows at home I used Quicktime Pictureviewer for viewing images.

    Thankyou.

    Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Check out Windows Live Photo Gallery.

You can get the free download here: Windows Live Photo Gallery 2011

You can also get it as part of Windows Live Essentials: http://explore.live.com/windows-live-essentials

Thanks for the reply, seavixen32. I actually had the Windows Live Essentials on my computer, but not fully installed.

If anyone else has any other suggestions I would like to hear them too. :)

You might want to check this Wiki article.

Some image viewers require payment while others are free.

    You're very welcome.

It'll be interesting to know which one you decide to use.

I've been using ACDSee in Windows "since Hector was a pup".

There have been many enhancements over the years, and the product has gotten larger and larger (with many good features for some, I suppose, but all I wanted was a fantastic image browser that was fast and lean). Naturally, the product has also gotten much more expensive over the years... to go along with what I feel to be "bloat". They've moved into "image editing", which I already have Photoshop for. I just want an image viewer/browser that's simple and fast and displays pictures exactly the way I want to see them... as you do.

So I myself still use the "best and fastest" version 4.01 (from 2001), although I also install the slightly prettier version 5 (from 2003) on machines for family and friends.

They're now up to version 14 on the "non-pro" edition ($79) and version 5 on the "pro" side ($239). I actually invested in the Pro version 2.5 a few years back because I had bought a new digital camera and thought it would be useful, but VIRTUALLY NEVER USE IT (really still preferring the old version 4 from 2001)!!!

Naturally they no longer sell or support the older versions I have and use, but that's fine with me.

Anyway, PM me if you're interested in trying version 4 or 5. I can get it to you along with all of my setup to get you started right away. I'm sure you will appreciate its simplicity of user-interface that belies its great depth of functionality.

I tried a number over a period of time and settled on FASTONE.
Viewing + comparison image viewing was what I wanted. I also wanted it to be standalone and lightweight.

I link to Photoshop Element 8/9 for editing but it does come with some editing capability.

    Hi dsperber,

Many thanks for your kind offer but I think that I'll give it a miss. The ability to view images in this way is not so important that I would pay for a program to be able to do so.

This looks pretty good, I'll try it out I think. Thankyou.

EDIT: I have actually gone with IrfanView. It's small, very simple and easy to use, displays the images in seperate windows, lets me hide all the toolbars and is free.

Thanks for all the other suggestions. :)

Good to see you went with an old faithful.
I used irfanview for a while but I wanted side by side comparisons at various magnifications in the same window for pre/post edit comparison. I couldn't get irfanview to do it.
