Quick question poor choice of codecs when exporting videos

My PC is running Win7x64 and if rendering video with an app like Vegas there's a wide choice of codecs.

There's a few 32bit programs I use that also can export video streams (my security camera software for example) but I'm severely limited to three ancient codecs (MJPEG compressor, Microsoft Video 1 and the Cinepak Codec by Radius)

Any idea how I go about installing a modern HD codec with H.264 encoding that will be accessible to these kind of programs?

Managed to solve this myself. Have installed both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of x264vfw. Having some issues getting the files to then load into a video editor and play at a decent speed but better than nothing
