    Video Tape to DVD Conversion

    Hi!

I have also some video tapes, not used from a long time. But as yesterday I tried to play them the video quality was blurred and scratched type. If I will try to convert it into DVD then the captured movie will play smoothly or not?

Please help me in this situation

    All replies are welcome.

Whatever you convert from analogue (video tape) to digital (DVD) will play smoothly on a DVD player but will not correct the blurred and scratching you refer to unless you correct what is causing this. If it is the original recording that is poor quality then there is nothing you can do however if it is a video player with dirty heads or faulty drive mechanism then I suggest checking on another player to verify if it can be improved before converting to digital.

You can also try spooling the tape from end to end (i.e. fast forwarding to the end and then rewinding) before playing, to eliminate any tightness present in the tape that can give rise to some problems. But, as ibshaw has stated, the ultimate result will depend on the quality of the tape and the recording, and also the condition of the machine that you are playing the tape through.

If, however, you merely want to copy them in their current state in order to prevent further deterioration, you should be fine. Just spool the tape(s) as I described above to loosen them up first.

Having said that, it is possible to enhance the quality of the converted version, but this is time consuming and requires specialist software which is capable of editing individual picture frames that is usually only available to the entertainment industry.

Thanks for all replies. If I prefer any video transfer specialist for this task of video conversion then I think it will be best as I don't want to face any loss of data during this process.

Can you suggest any professional video transfer company?

Your area should have lots of professional video businesses. Since these tapes seem to be of significant importance to you, I would do some research to find the business with which you're most comfortable. At least their equipment will be high quality.
As noted in a previous post, the quality of the source will determine the quality of the finished product. Good Luck.
