XP and 7 : Difference in video quality

    hi

I'm still migrating from my XP to 7. Lately I noticed that there is a little difference in video qualities between XP and 7. I mean, when Im playing video files, (avi. etc) the quality is poor comparing with XP. I checked my video driver but its OK. I've the latest one.

If you have any helpful advices it would be great..

    thanx..:)

The codec is probably using DirectShow which is being deprecated and removed from DirectX. The new and better way to be writing codecs is to use Media Foundation. That is the only reason that I can think of why it would be poor.

Also what encoding is the AVI file containing?

Yeah there is a whole thread on the subject and it seems almost every third party media player and these codec packs like k-mega are all producing crappy results, while Windows Media Player has awesome results...I couldn't tell you why. But it might have something to do with DirectX 11.
