Video playback on Windows 7 choppy

Hi im using windows 7 home premium 64 bit and my laptop is a toshiba satellite c660.
Recently whenever i play videos on my laptop the video stutters and then the whole laptop freezes, this happens with windows media player and itunes and I have to restart my computer.


I have no idea what to do

Any help will be appreciated
