Cant play burned music dvd disc on dvd player

    Hi ,

Can't play a burned music DVD on new DVD player , but it will play on A Blu-RAY DVD PLAYER-- the disc is DVD-R-

I made the disc on ROXIO from mp3's that I ripped from my regular Cd's.

Should it play on a regular dvd player or is this the norm ?

    Thanks, Ralph

    Depends on how old, model
of said player. But yes, most
DVD players will only play music
files from CD. And only in limited
    formats.

rvbfan, you're saying most DVD players will only play music files from CDs (not DVDs ?) and only in certain formats.

neorican asked: "Should it (the DVD burned) play on a regular dvd player or is this the norm ?"

It was the YES that's throwing me off. I think the yes means "No it will not play - it is normal"

checking a little more , I think that one needs to read what format it will play --The format that that my dvd disc is - is dvd-r which i believe is the most common one. I checked some new DVD players like a sony unit and it says that it plays DVD-r---

This is most confusing and again I am only talking about a DVD disc with songs from mp3 only--
Any additional help would be appreciated-

    Thanks again,,, Ralph

You should have no problems, but not all dvd units are created equal.

Can you play the dvd on the same unit on which the dvd was burned?

THe DVD was burned on ROXIO, but Roxio is not really a player - It will play on a BLURAY player but not on a non-bluray player -- the disc is a dvd-R-- tried it on 3 different non- bluray players and it will not play.\\
Very strange , - hope that this is not the norm---- any more info would be appreciated----Thanks , Ralph

You might want to investigate using Win 7 to burn your DVDs/CDs.

    WIN + F1 keycombo | ENTER
    WIN=
key with microsoft logo on top.

You need to use a CD disc not a DVD disc.

    To INVADER--
After Further research , you are correct - You can burn a Cdr using data mp3 and it will play on a non- bluray dvd player-- I learned this by trial and error and was going to write it here , but you beat me to it-- I could not get the answer anywhere- the only little problem is that if A dvd could be used , You could get twice as many songs on it -- but you cant have everything --- The issue is solved-- Thanks, Ralph
