    Can't open transferred photos

I transferred photos from an old PC to a new one with Windows 7. Many of the transferred photos show up not as photos but in the Windows Live Gallery as a Microsoft logo. Clicking on it and Windows Media Center opens op, but not on a specific photo. I can't tell which ones are hidden this way.

Many were scanned and others saved from other email sources.

Any way to make these appear as photos in the Gallery?

You may find in the properties that they are blocked because they came from another computer....there is an unblock button also...

Thanks...tried that but it didn't work. It seems properties tells me the offending fils are .max files, whatever they are!! Maybe I can change them to jpeg somehow?

Built in snipping tool may possibly work to convert them individually.

Thanks for the responses. I don't understand, nor can I find any reference to a 'snipping' tool.

Tried the download as well, but all pictures just come up in a code of some sort.

    Quite a mystery!

Snipping tool is built into Windows 7
Use Snipping Tool to capture screen shots

That file extension, as you scanned those, is most likely created by paperport. If you don't have it installed on the PC they have been transferred to, they will appear as code.
    Install Paperport to that machine.
