WMP 12 only plays some MP3s

I recently installed an audio codec pack and it seem to have messed with WMP ability to read mp3 files. It will play some mp3 files and for some it will not. I went and got the same music from my friends computer, which the files were working on, and they didnt work on mine so i know it isnt file corruption. I've uninstalled the codec pack , system restored, uninstalled/reinstalled WMP. So I am at a loss. Hope you geniuses can help.
    Thanks for your time.

Try Winamp to play music. Plays all formats, and doesn't require external codecs.

Or, try PotPlayer for all formats audio and video.

Both of these provide a much better user experience than WMP.

If I were you I'd download WMP 11 and the K-lite codecs and you'll see it all will be alright.
