    DirectX Problem


    Hi

    I am trying to install DirectX, but it keeps saying installation failed !

    What I'm I doing wrong Please help.

    Which version? Windows already includes DirectX.

    ohh that is probably why then ! lol

    I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate

    So I do not have to install DirectX ?

    Both correct and incorrect. Win 7 does include DX libraries for all the above except it only has core libraries (just to have version compatibility in place). To avoid problems with DirectX and missing libraries (especially for games that need 9.0) I recommend you run the DX Web Installer from Microsoft. It will scan your computer and install the commonly needed libraries. Over 90% of the time this will fix your issue.

    Hi, to see what version you have installed, just type in Dxdiag into the Start / Start search and programs, and click on Dxdiag, it says what version is installed at the end of the page.

    It will also tell you if you are having any issues with display / sound, I hope this helps.

    like I said above the version doesn't really matter...it is the libraries you have available. If you have DX 10 installed with no other DX updates than many DX9 games won't run...this is just an example here. Always run the DX Web Installer...your golden afterwards

    Give this a shot, its the latest and greatest. There's about 90mb worth to install on a clean windows 7
