Media Player 12 will not save song files or save/keep changes

Please help me. My Media player 12 was working ok. Now for some reason it isn't.When I down load a album, it saves it on my hard drive in my Music Libray which is fine. Then when I open Media Player 12 it monitors the library and places the album in my Media Player. However, when I close the player and then reopen it, the album has disappeared ! This is weird. Somewhere my settings must have changed. What can I do? Thanks for any help. God bless, Ken.

Hello Ken mate I don't know what the problem is with the WMP but I found an even better free player that you can mix and play around in to get your "customised" settings - otherwise you can uninstall the WMP and reinstall it - personally I like the jriver app.

To play stuff you just import from the library takes a bit of fiddling but once done it's great! Plus you can rip and burn just like WMP.

Anyway take your pick How to Uninstall and Re-Install Windows Media Player 12 (WMP12) in Windows 7 « My Digital Life < genuine site for Windows stuff

Media Jukebox: Free J. River Media Jukebox software < few adds at the beginning take no notice.:)

Thanks IC for this info. I really don't want to re install the player, as I am a bit unsure of what might happen if I do it. You know, I listen to radio a lot, which uses the Media Player 12, and also I have it set up fairly well at present. Yeah, I think the other Media Jukebox could be the way to go. But I will see if I get another reply on this, beause it was working up until a week ago, so I think it needs some settings to be changed some where. Many thanks. Ken.

No probs mate I think WHS has a good idea too. But if you want both - nothing stopping you and personally I use the jriver one co I can customise the frequencies to my own individual tastes.

I do have a Xonar DG card (not expensive) from ASUS Xonar DG [XONAR-DG] - $29.00 : PC Case Gear which I just really like as you can use WMP and work it through that - customising that is I only got the jriver cos the card will not work in my Ivy Bridge - yet.

Thanks IC .. I fixed it. I looked up the Microsoft Support site, and found this link.

Fix Windows Media Player video, and other media or library issues

After I activated this, followed the instructions etc, it now works perfectly. When the diagnostic tool does it's job, it actualy says what the problem was, and says it is fixed. It was a corrupt media player system some where ! I don't know how it got corrupt, but never the less, it restored it all the way it should be. Many thanks again. You are cool. Ken.

Many thanks WHS. It's ok now, I fixed it. Read my previous reply to IC. What you have shown me is cool, because I didn't know that there was a box where it says " Restore Media Library. " In fact I coudn't find a Tools in the Library, now I know what to do for that. Take care WHS. Ken.

Yes mate it is a good little spot that and I am so glad you got it fixed:)

My Mum used to say there is always more than one way of skinning a cat an you found - good on you.

But keep that jriver or Xonar in mind mate if you are into audio stuff - I am cos I intensely dislike real crappy sound when you are listening to good music.

Thanks IC. You know, that is exactly what I said to myself after I fixed it " There is more than one way of skinning a cat " !! Thanks for all the concern and help. Yeah, I will certainly investigate that Media Juke box from jriver, as like you said, I can always keep the two players. God bless. Ken.
