How to make an instructional slide show for a DVD Player

I plan to create a slide show to show on a large TV that will be used for instruction. I wish to make the advancement of the slides as needed depending on the length of time the audience wishes to spend on it. I would like to control the advancement of the slides with the DVD Player remote.
    Can this be done? How

I think the best solution would be to save slide show as it is and use the DVD remote's PAUSE key. I have successfully used this method.

Set slide duration not too long but long enough for you to be able to decide if it needs to paused. If you think it takes 20 seconds to read / see a slide, set duration to 30 seconds. Turn off OSD from DVD player so that when you click pause, the disturbing on screen display does not show pause symbol on top of your slide.
