Hi Murphybro. Not sure what program you used in your original recovery effort but I can tell you that all recovery programs are not created equal. While they all will locate and recover deleted jpg's for example many do not retrieve critical data for the file such as Picture Width, Height, Resolution etc.

On the ones that will not display, right click on the picture, then on properties, then on summary, then on advanced. If there is no data shown on this page, this could be your problem.

I have ran controlled test with the following recovery programs (all free) Recuva, PC Inspector-File Recovery and Pandora. Only Pandora brought back this extra data necessary to display the pictures.

Perhaps you can run the recovery again using Pandora and see if this solves your problem
    Let us know.

that seems odd as the site limit is 1.00mb,
its possible its corrupt which is why its not opening in any image viewers.
can you upload it to a thrid party hosting site like flicker or dropbox and paste the link.

What software did you use in the recovery process? You may have to use something else and redo the recovery.

Did you try to re-recover the original files as suggested in post #3 using Pandora

I copy and pasted the files from the hard drive through explorer and have now reformatted the original drive, all other file types from the original disk open fine. I did try pandora but recovering deleted files is not really the issue its opening the damn things ! Will find a site I can upload one to. Cheers
