    Cannot delete media?

Hey guys, I can't delete any of my media such as music, pictures, videos.

First off, I have my media on another hard drive than the OS, and I changed the libraries location to include those folders when I installed Win7.

It says the file is being used elsewhere. I even tried removing the folders from my libraries, rebooting, and it still won't let me delete! I don't have any other programs open using them. Can anyone help me out here?

you probably use WMP and its sharing service is running, hence being used. right?

go to task manager and stop wmpnetwrk.

I've opened WMP a couple of times but haven't setup a sharing service or anything. I use VLC for media. Will check if WMP has a sharing service running when I get home. Does it automatically set one up?

Yep and the sharing service starts automatically. its useless if you arent sharing media and can be disabled in services.msc

Their is also a program called process explorer I have used before. Unlike task mngr. it will give you options when right clicking the process, like links to sites that explain the exact process and other options. I find it easier to use when looking for a specific process. (IMO) Link Process Explorer - Download

Thanks people, it worked. I didn't find an option to disable sharing in WMP, but I disabled media sharing through Network & Sharing Center.
