    Disappearing Slideshows

I spent ages making two lovely slideshows with music in Windows Media Centre. They duly appeared, played correctly and were listed in the Media Centre when I selected Pictures and Music. However, a couple of times later, they now don't appear in the Centre at all, only the option to Create a Slideshow. I searched for them and found them listed as .wpl files under My Playlists. They don't play properly from there like they did in the Media Centre. How do I get them back again and listed in the Media Centre? Many thanks.

Hi Josmarie and Welcome to the Forum.
Open Windows Media Player and you will see your Slideshows there. They will then play the same as before.
Your files should play exactly the same if you double click the file in Playlists. If you navigate to the files and right click on each inturn you will see in the window that open "Send To" Click on this and choose Desktop shortcut. Then you can just click on the icon for each and open you slideshows from the desktop. Windows Media centre is a pain for this sort of thing, overly complicated in my view. Remember these slideshows will not play on another PC. The wpl files are very small as all they really are is a list of links to the folders whare you store your pictures. If you try to play them on another PC they won't be able to find the photo files!

I can only get sound from the shortcuts not the slides playing. I am ready to abandon WMC!

Did you open Windows Media Player and if so did you find your Slideshows listed there? Which shortcut did you click when you only got the sound? Where are the photos for the slideshows stored?
