gray box inside every picture and document on desktop

i connected to a public wifi network today and right away 3 cmd promt boxes appeared saying system 32 and disappeared. afterwards, all of the pictures and documents on my desktop were highlighted. and now they have this gray box on the inside bottom left hand corner with a line going across diagonally. what just happened and what are these gray boxes? i ran a scan with norton 360 and malwarebytes and i don't seem to have anything. i included a pic of the gray boxes. what do these gray boxes mean and why are they there?

    Hello catnip,

In addition to the above post, my thoughts would be that it may also be from some type of "Backup and Restore Manager" program that puts the icon on them letting you know that they have been backed up.

If you have any program like that or 3rd party image viewer program installed, then you might check to see if it's related to it.

Hope this helps for now, :)
