burning to CD file size wrong

Hello, I purchased new CD's for this project, 700 MB, with RW capability. I have some small Word documents I need to put on one of these new CD's. Each time I attempt to burn the files to a CD I receive the message "File is too big . . . " (paraphrased) I tried different CD's, I tried to burn one photograph. No matter what I tried the message was the same. My guess is that the sensor looking at the file size is malfunctioning. I am not using special software, just Windows.
The tech support person for ASUS recommended I install a trial version of Power2Go. My anti-virus program deleted that immediately.
Is it possible to re-set or re-initialize the sensor reading the file size to be burned ?

Try The Official ImgBurn Website it's freeware and will burn just about anything. . .

That's really odd that documents that your trying to burn in windows are being told its too big. Did you check the file sizes of the documents? Not that it would be possible for them to be too big for a cd. Just curious...

Yes, I did check the file size. This happened with several different files I tried to burn, one at a time, on different CD's. I guessed the sensor reading the file size is mal-functioning. Other replies have suggested I use different software. I am reluctant to download unfamiliar software until I know what is causing the file size mis-read problem.

Built in windows software for anything other than just being your operating system is dodgy at best. There is a reason it has to be bundled with windows to get people to use it. . .so, personally, I don't doubt the problem is with the built in cd burning software itself.

His problem should still not be happening in the fist place. I don't understand why such a simple software that is built into windows does not work. If anything, its lets clutter as its more lightweight than another 4rd part software....but that's just my opinion.

Anyways, have many cd's did you try

It is possible to have 10 or more cd's be bad. I have gotten quite a few bad batches from stores before.

Thanks to everyone for all your input. I am being super careful with this laptop because it was so much money for me. Roxio software was recommended by someone else. Is this a reliable software ? Maybe I will purchase a new package of CD's of a different brand.
