Windows Media Player 12 Library won't show track times

For over a year the library displays limited track times for existing music files which are mostly mp3 and none at all for new files. Similarly for video, no track times are shown for WMV and AVI files however MOV, MPG and MP4 files have track times. On a number of occassions I have deleted the database files but no track times show nor can media player read tag information in files or write tag information to them. It seems only able to write to its own database files. I have also on a number of occassions disabled and enabled media player in features. These actions have made the problem progressively worse to the present situation. Does media player have some file size counters in the registry or database files which have now been exceeded? Is there some other action I can try?

Thanks Boonah. I have tried this previously and it works for AAC, m4A and ogg(vorbis) files but there are no options for MP3, WAV, WMV etc. files.
