Need help somehow organizing .mp3s without details

So this is the deal, I downloaded a mega pack of 500 classic rock rock songs but non of then come with any media information in their properties details.

So the result is in Winamp, is one big list in my play list of each individual song instead of being compiled into one folder or separated by artist.

And on top of that, each of the 500 mp3s are selected as "read only" so they have to be unticked in order to edit the media info.

Is there a quicker way to edit all 500 songs at once rather than edit each one individually?

Also, highlighting very song won't let you edit media info

Thanks I figured it out, actually by removing a few non mp3 files from the folder that I didn't need I was able to highlight and edit all of them. There was one .tmp and an info file that I didn't notice preventing me from changing the media info

By "media info" I assume you're referring to the metadata "tags" potentially available with each file.

Best tool to do editing (of one file individually, or two or more selected files simultaneously) is MP3Tag. You can rename the external file names, or edit the individual imbedded metadata tag fields. When editing two or more files simultaneously you can choose to "keep data value" or "force data value", so you can retain existing data in certain fields or insert a new "constant" value in certain fields for more than one file at a time.
