How configure Windows 7 Photo Viewer - where to store pictures

Recently upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit. My HP Photosmart software that came with my M437 camera is no longer supported so I am importing pictures from my camera and from an SD card using Windows Photo Viewer. Photo Viewer starts automatically and recognizes my camera and SD cards. When I run the program it automatically starts downloading pictures and then erases them from the camera or card.

I do not get the tag option - the download just starts. It stores the pictures in one of my HP camera folders. I almost never found them. I'd like for it to store the pictures in another folder but have not been able to figure out how to change it. I'd also like for the tag option to appear.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Have a look at this, it allows you to create custom folders and i believe you can set it up to import to a specific folder.

    HLPTech,

Thanks for your reply. I have been trying to download Photo Gallery but the download always fails at 34% - so I have not been able to get the software.

Photo gallery is still released as a windows update,
You might not be able to download it because it's already installed ?
You might try this see if there is a Windows essentials folder or Windows live folder,
    Click start and All programs,
It might be on the very bottom of the programs list,
    Cheers.

Why do you 'import' your pics with these dumb programs that you cannot control. Why don't you just copy them to wherever you like.

And if you want a really nice program do view and edit them, use this one.

    Trashzone,

Thanks for your reply. I finally was able to download Windows Essentials. Photo Gallery does what I need.

    Thanks again!
