Software for uploading camera photos to PC

My wife is an ardent photographer but is not really tech savvy when it comes to computers. Consequently, I'm looking for a software package that will enable her to upload her photos, select which photos and select a folder to use. The software should also allow the creations of a new folder and naming it. It has to be easy to use so I don't have to be involved whenever she wants to uplaod photos. Also free is better.

What type of Camera does she use? Most makers(nikon, cannon) have software to do just that.

    Picasa - very user friendly.

Will upload pics, let you edit (color, sharpening, etc)

Name the folder and location on PC.

    Lots of other neat tricks.

Windows has that all built-in. My PC has a card reader, I take the card from the camera and stick it in the card reader. The card then appears in Windows Explorer as another drive. I drag and drop the pictures I want from the memory card to the folders on my PC where I wish to store them. Have never needed any 3rd part software to do that.

This program will do many more things than just import pictures.

It allows me to make a reverse image that I can use to put on a t-shirt, make a photo collage and many, many more neat things.

I can just plug in my camera and it also appears as another hdd - but I can do a myriad of things with Picassa.

Also, he may not have a card reader.

Check it out and you might just like it.
