What are you trying to burn? I have a Lenovo laptop with Win 7 and have not had any problems burning. I made the backup discs without problems. I do have a burning program (NERO) that I use for burning CD/DVD's, rather than the built in Windows program.

If you are trying to copy media that is copy protected then there can be issues.

You can try one of the popular free burning programs such as CDBurnerXP or Imgburn and see if you have problems with that.
