    MP4 file properties, freezes

I have an MP4 movie on my laptop HDD.

I copied the MP4 file to a thumb drive (NTFS format)
. . . to test MP4 result on my Smart TV -- before loading the MP4 file on a 2TB HDD
    - The file name can be easily edited in Windows Explorer
    - But when the movie plays in VLC the MP4 Title is not the same as the file Name.
    - editing the MP4 File "Title" (then [Apply]) freezes the File Properties Window

    On thumb drive:-
In File Properties > Details (tab) > Description > Title ...
... when the "Title" is altered the [Apply] btn is enabled.
When I click [Apply] the File Properties (dlg) locks up/freezes -- and can only be closed/abandoned with "Task Manager" > end task

    On C:\MyMovies:-
In File Properties > Details (tab) > Description > Title ...
... when the "Title" is altered the [Apply] btn is enabled.
When I click [Apply] the File Properties (dlg) locks up/freezes -- and can only be closed/abandoned with "Task Manager" > end task

What am I doing wrong ?

I would appreciate any help :)

Have you tried right click and just rename the mp4 file, or am I missing something here?

I can rename the MP4 file "Name" OK

But when I change the MP4 file "Title" Property > Apply (or OK) ... the File properties Dialog locks up
    - the "Apply" button is enabled when any file property field that has been edited loses focus.
    ie, Windows Explorer locks up

Changing the file "Name" does not change the "Title" text.

I have done a virus scan. And 4 risks found ... all cookies as TXT files. Hardly risks.

This is my first sojourn into MP4.
I can change Title, Sub Title, Comments etc in MP3 files without any problems ... but not MP4 files.

I have been playing about with mp4 since last night and I experienced the same problem that you are having, freezing etc, with some of my mp4 files, though on some different mp4 files it worked as it should. I then ran one of the mp4 file that froze the file properties window through a video converter. I converted the mp4 file to mp4 and then I was able to add title to the converted mp4 without any problem and all worked as it should. This seemed to be the only way I could do it on my pc with the mp4 files I have that would freeze the properties window. Sorry I have no definitive answer for your problem.
