Creating new desktop wallpaper, overlays existing wallpapers

    Hi all,

I am running Win 7 64 bit Home Premium OS. It is running on an HP Pavillion desktop PC. I am using ACDSee 14, and Photoscape as my image viewer software. The problem I am experiencing is this. I have 8 wallpaper images in my theme. When I add a 9th image to the theme, not only is it added, but it overlays images 3 and 7. So now I have 3 wallpapers with the same image. It will overlay random images, it's not always the 3rd and 7th ones. To add to this mysterious behavior, the overlaid images keep there original theme name(s). This problem is random, in that sometimes it will overlay 1 image, other times, it might overlay 2 or 3 images. It happens whether I use ACDSee 14 or Photoscape.

I've searched around the internet, to see if I could find any similar issues, but to no avail. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your time and assistance on this one

If this is not the right forum, please accept my apology, and point me in the right direction.

    Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
Have you uninstalled these programs and re-add the folder to your desktop slide show or screen saver ?
Is one of these programs how you included these files as your slide show ?
or did you go to Personalize from right clicking on your desktop background ?

    Screen Saver - Change
    Cheers.

Thank you for the welcome, and the quick response. No I have not uninstalled/re-installed these two applications, as it seems unlikely that this problem would occur the same way on 2 different apps, and more likely that the problem is the way that Win 7 creates the desktop wallpaper. I'm not using the slide show or screen saver features. I'm just creating a single image wallpaper. Yes I do go into Personalize in order to select which image I want to use for my desktop.

Creating new desktop wallpaper, overlays existing wallpapers: FIXED

I had an epiphany this morning, and decided to go into Windows Explorer, and try creating a wallpaper that way. So I right clicked my mouse on a picture, and selected from the drop down menu: "Set As Desktop Background", and low and behold, it placed the picture as a theme, and did not overlay any other wallpapers. After creating the wallpaper, I had to go into "Desktop Background" and modify the "Picture Position" so that it would fit the screen. Other than that, everything is ok.

    Thanks All :)
