How to export trimmed video in Windows Movie Maker?

Every time i trim and export a video in WMM, the filesize often ends up being too large, sometimes more than the original video itself. Am i exporting a trimmed video wrong? I have been searching for trimming software, because i just cannot understand what i am doing wrong.

    Hi,
All I can think of is your saving in a better file resolution than what you started with ?
What was the video when you started and what was the finished edited version ?

Check out AviDemux - despite the name, it can also handle mp4, mkv etc. If you cut on an I-frame, there's no recode - so v fast + no filesize probs. I use it quite a bit.

I do not remember the specs of the last video i exported, but I did a quick trim on a 11:51 mp4 file (97.8MB) to give an example. I trimmed the video down to 0:32 and ended up with a 14.8MB mp4 file.. video was exported using the Recommended setting.

This is a great recommendation, I tried this program earlier and it worked amazingly well.. very fast too! Thanks! :)

Even though i may start trimming with Avidemux, I'd still like to figure out what is up with WMM.. can never have too many options ;]
