Details "Camera Model" etc. will not populate in explorer window

Explorer windows in detail mode will not populate with additional information. e.g. Camera Model, date taken...
This was working fine up to about two weeks ago, when something happened. I got busy with additional software, editing and I can't say exactly when it stopped. The information is still there in my EXIF data. It shows up in Irfanview info and Lightroom info. I shoot with / have files from six different cameras, this is rather important to me.

welllllllllll...MicrosoftCameraCodecPack-x64.msi. Somehow, let me never be one who second guesses Microsoft, the codec pack was corrupted or got overridden by one (some) of my new software. I removed several photo viewers and decided to reload all of my photo codec packages. and wa la after loading each one, I checked to see if the window was repopulating. The third one loaded ---> MicrosoftCameraCodecPack-x64.msi, and that did the trick. Thank you to anyone who may have read this and considered helping. (there is a 32 bit version of this codec pack, just in case it helps anyone)

External USB2 drives "disappeared" from the computer explorer window
I have four external usb drives. All seem to have disappeared at the same time. I checked one of them on another computer and it's fine. There's no error \ in the device manager, except it said that the device on one port had failed. I disabled that but left it plugged in because I don't know...

Is there a global "Choose details..." in Windows Explorer?
When i view files/folders in Windows Explorer, I would like to have the following details showing for all: Name, Date, Date modified, type, Size, Folder. It appears that I have to do this for every file that I open if it is not already done (View>Choose details... Iguess what I'm asking is if...
