    Slight Lag Opening Photos

i have been having this problem for a while. It was a minor inconvenience but now it is just really annoying.

First off, there is a lag between the moment i double click a thumbnail and photo viewer appears and

Secondly, if i double click and my cursor ventures off a bit, hovering over a different thumbnail, THAT picture will open up in photo viewer instead.

i have scanned for malware, viruses, and spyware.

i am unsure what else could be causing this. Other than this problem, my computer is running fine.

    Hi,
I've never been a fan of double clicking it seems more like a nervous twitch to me :)
Plus it wears out which ever button your use as primary a lot quicker,

You can try to slow down the double click speed or switch buttons to see if it makes any difference
Personally I would use point to select single click to open and see if that makes a difference

But ultimately I assume your personal files are on a different partition which could be a sign of a failing or slowing down hdd accessing the files ?

Sorry for the slow response. Even photos on my desktop lag.
but yeah, what i have been doing is just not moving my mouse and waiting. i work with images a lot so it has just become a nuisance.

the lag does slow down a great deal if they are photos from a folder that i have already looked at a photo from recently.

opening them using the enter key still produces a lag as well.

    Hi
Well all I can say is Samsung has some great deals on ssd's today,
    I just got a 500gb 850 evo for 197.00 :)
A ssd would make the word of difference :)
I'm already running a couple on my systems but this 500gb is for a new build I'm working on now,
    Best deals of the day

I see you have Avira free antivirus,
Have you ever run Malwarebytes free to see if it finds any corruption ?

    Hi Billybag.
I had an issue with opening my photos last year.
I had ghost images of past photos I had on my desktop and deleted long ago.
I would open a photo and see those 'ghost images'.
Clearing and resetting THUMBNAIL CASHE worked.
Go to Disk Cleanup. Follow Brink's Tutorial and do it manually or download his awesome 'magic tool'
(It's good to know how to do it manually though.)
    Scroll down to the Tutorial.

    Cheers.

    Hi again Billybag.
Double click sucks big time. It's pretty much pre-historic and so annoying.
    It's an easy fix.
    Go to your Control Panel.
    Find Folder Options.
Click the dot that says Single-click to open an item (point to select)
