Photo import screwed up from iPhone 6

Hi all.. first post here, and I really need some help.

I've got a Windows 7 64-bit Home install, and have been importing photos from my iPhone for several years now. Had every iPhone and currently using the 6. I've got the majority of the photos I've taken still on this device, but I delete videos as they take up too much space.

When I connect my phone, I have always selected Import Pictures using Windows by default. The new photos and videos are nearly imported into folders with date stamps.

All was well until a few months ago.

Now, when I import photos using Windows or Photo Gallery, it imports SOME of my new photos. But it leaves out every other picture and instead imports an OLD photo, sometimes from years ago, in its place. The old photos have already been imported and are in the correct folder from the old import.

But now it's not importing properly again.

I changed my import settings to a new folder in hopes that it would do a completely new full import from my phone with all photos placed on my computer with proper date stamps. But it appears that Windows knows that all the photos have already been imported and I don't know how to create a fresh import.

Any idea WHY this is happening and suggestions for how to fix it?

As a temp fix, I've been clicking on the iPhone in My Computer and manually dragging all the photos over. But they aren't date-stamped and it's just a massive folder of 20,000 pics.

    Please help!

    Thanks,

    Joel

    Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
I've always accessed a device manually especially an iphone = still on 4
I believe it's driver doesn't install properly I've read uninstalling the device might correct it but ultimately a better photo editing program usually solves the issue

How does it react using iTunes ?

I guess I'm wondering how to fool windows into thinking I haven't imported a single photo so it will pull them all in. But what's up with the wrong date stamps on photos from years past?

Because of how some photo programs handle the import I forego them and treat a cellphone or camera as just another drive such as a USB Thumb/Flash drive, get connected then Copy the images to a new Folder on the computer, work with them later. It also helps to delete old data from the device/s if not needed on the device/s.

I think I solved it based on what thrashzone posted. I am not using Windows Live to import, so that didn't fix it. However, I found a folder in users/Owner/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Photo_Acquisition with a file inside. I renamed the file and reconnnected my phone. Photos importing to new folder now. BAM!

Thanks so much for your help

Crud. Well, it only imported half the photos or less. Skipped a ton of them. No idea why. I'm at a loss. Any other ideas?

    Hi,
Well it's been quite a while since I've had pg installed or any of the essential programs for that matter
iphone 6 hasn't been out for very long I will assume you had these files transferred from a different version iphone ?

Essentials I guess 2012 ? has a fix program option in uninstall a program but I would uninstall all and rebuild windows thumbnail cache using disk cleanup and make sure to rename or delete the appdata files as before of pg too,

Make sure all of the files are indeed in your camera roll on the iphone 20k of files is a lot of files
