Pictures Library folders won't sort photos by "date taken"

It seems that pictures that have been modified (ie. rotated) will only now sort by the date this modification occurred. Despite that when you hover over it, you can still see the correct "date taken" in its details. Pain in the you know what. I usually have the main folder as the year, and then monthly subfolders, and then sort photos by date taken within the subfolders. any ideas? thank you.

    Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
You might try date created instead of date taken
Click on the More options listing if created is not listed.

Right click on one of the photo's in Windows Explorer, select Properties and go to the Details tab.
Do you see the "date taken" or "date created"?

Under "details-origin" it show the correct "date taken", and under "details-file", it show "date created" and "date modified" with the alternate date. All I did was rotate the photos. I have never had this before and have hundreds of photos saved on my laptop.
