I need help organizing the Windows Media Player music library.

I can't seem to get my WMP organized the way I want it.
I made two separate libraries for it and I store them on an external drive.
One is a "Music" library which contains all music files I allow WMP to see.
The other is for "Albums" which have an Album title and the songs on it. When I add the Albums to the media player I end up with duplicates of individual songs which makes sense but it's not what I want.
I thought that maybe the Albums would only show up in the WMP library if I clicked on the Albums button under music. They do show up there of course but WMP includes Album art there for even individual songs, also not what I want. I also tried making the Albums into playlists which keeps them together in the library but still results in the duplicates error. I could probably resolve that by deleting the duplicates from the "Music" library but I just think I am missing something in setting this up properly.

How do you guys do it? Please, I would appreciate any suggestions. Are there other music organizers that offer more control?

Are you joined at the hip with WMP?

    What do I do?

I gave up on the concept of "albums".

I have 26,000 songs and no "albums".

Songs are categorized purely by artist: Johnny Cash, Elvis, whoever. Each artist has his own folder on my hard drive.
